Rowena Reed's Greene Street loft in NYC

Located in Santa Fe, NM, +FILM is a film production company, established in 2017. We are currently working on a documentary, with the working title, Rowena & Alexander. It tells the little known story of Rowena Reed and Alexander Kostellow, who were key in establishing the Industrial Design Department at Pratt Institute in the 1930's, which has become the model program throughout the United States.

Together they developed a unique and unprecedented curriculum, helped to create a new profession, shaped the education of thousands of designers and design educators and impacted the designed world as we know it.

This film strives to bring their legacy to light.

Rowena & Alexander is produced by Tushita Vavas of +FILM and Pamela Waters of Pamela Waters Studio, both of whom were students of Rowena Reed while attending Pratt Institute's Industrial Design Department; their lives were greatly impacted by her both professionally and personally.
